The Genesis comes in Silver and Gold models. The main difference is the hood which is stove enamelled on Silver series and stainless steel on Gold.
Mine is a Silver B model as in the picture left.
Both Silver and Gold come in B & C variants. The Silver is also available in A variant.
The difference between B and C is that the C has a side burner and an additional table. The A is a two burner model. All of them use propane and therefore come with a propane regulator which will vary according to the country you buy it from.
The features I like.
The burners run across the grill and have dozens of small jets to provide even heat.
I can light one, two or three burners. For direct cooking I light all three but I might have them at different levels for the different types of food. For indirect cooking I just have the front and back burners lit and place the food in the middle.
Weber use inverted V shaped stainless steel “flavouriser” bars instead of lava rock. Of the five bars, three cover the burners thus preventing flare ups. At the end of cooking a quick ten minutes at high setting on all three burners cleans all the debris off the bars.
The bottom of the BBQ slides out for easy cleaning.
It lights first time every time.
The cover is waterproof and has elastic to keep it on.
Little niggles
The enamelled grills are hard to clean back to new condition. After a lot of cleaning the enamel wears off and they begin to rust.
The gas bottle at the side means you can’t move the BBQ easily.
The warming trays get coated with burnt on grease if you leave them in place. If you store them in the cart and they get wet then the chrome plating quickly shows rust spots.
